History
This Order was founded in Venezuela as the Medal of Honor "Francisco de Miranda" on July 21, 1933. It was originally awarded to military personnel from the Army or Navy in recognition of length of service rendered to the Army.
However, the Medal was promoted Order by Congressional Decree on July 28, 1939, and it was likewise regulated on July 14, 1943. Since then, the Order has rewarded civilians for extraordinary merit within the fields of science, technology, and humanities.
In Medalbook, this Order is classified into types. Type I includes the Medals for length of services of 1933, while Type II consists of the Order of Francisco de Miranda of 1943.
In Type I, the Medal consisted of three grades: I Class Medal, II Class Medal, and III Class Medal. The I Class Medal was awarded for 30 years of services with an outstanding military record. II Class Medal was awarded for 20 years of services, and III Class Medal was awarded for 10 years of services. However, it is unknown the features of the Medals and how many times was awarded.
