The Order of Police Merit (Orden del Mérito Policial) was established by decree on June 18, 1943, and it was regulated on April 19, 1964. It is awarded to the Dominican national police in recognition of outstanding service during the performance of their duties.

It is awarded with two classes that denote the rank of the recipient; I Class is awarded to Officers, and II Class is awarded to patrolmen.

The I Class is awarded with a red ribbon with three narrow white stripes, while II Class is awarded with a blue, white, and green ribbon.
