The Order of Manuel Amador Guerrero was founded to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Panama's Independence from Colombia. It is currently conferred upon Panamanian and foreign either civilians or military personnel in recognition of distinguished services in the fields of arts, science, humanitarianism, and civics.

The Order consists of Gold Collar, Grand Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, and Commander.

Manuel Amador Guerrero (1833-1909) was the first president of Panama after the nation achieved its independence from Colombia in 1903.
