History

Canada's Medal of Bravery was established in 1972 by Queen Elizabeth. It is the third highest award for bravery in the country.

This medal may be conferred upon all Canadian citizens in recognition of extraordinary acts of bravery within perilous situations. The event does not need to take place in Canada, nor does the individual(s) involved need to be Canadian. However, the event must involve Canadians or Canadian interests. Bars can be added to the ribbon for additional acts of bravery.

Recipients of the award may use the post-nominals MB. A total of 3,304 have been awarded.
