History

This medal features two divisions, a Military Division and a Civil Division.

The medal divisions are both conferred to recognize acts of extreme professionalism which bring honour to Canada within the Canadian Armed Force or civilian services.

The medal may be conferred multiple times. Upon the subsequent conferral the recipient is given a silver bar with a maple leaf at the centre.

The ribbon of the Military Division is blue with two white stripes with a thin blue stripe down their centre.

The ribbon of the Civil Division is blue with two white stripes with a thin blue stripe down their centre, and an additional white stripe down the centre.
