History

This Order is conferred upon Governor Generals or Prime Ministers of Jamaica. Recipients of this Order cannot hold the Order of the National Hero.

This Order is of equal precedence to the Order of Excellence. The motto of the Order is "One Nation Under God." Recipients of the Order are entitled to use the post-nominals "ON."
