History

The Cross for North American Invasion 1847 (Cruz de la Invasión Norteamericana) was authorized by the Mexican government in 1847, in recognition of the troops under command of General Pedro Ampudia, who fought against American invading forces in Monterrey on September 24, 1846.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "The Fatherland to Merit in 1847," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to "He Fought for the Integrity of the National Territory."
