History

The Medal for Durango (Medalla de Durango) was established by the imperial regency of Mexico in 1821, to reward the Mexican revolutionary army that laid siege the city of Durango in 1821, and forced the Spanish troops to surrender one week later.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Long Live to the Unity," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to "To the Winners in Durango, the Zacatecas People 1821."
