History

The Medal for Naval War Operations (La Medalla de Operaciones Navales de Guerra) was established in Mexico by decree on March 1, 1949. It was awarded to the military personnel who took care of the Gulf of Mexico against enemy submarines during the World War II.

The Medal was authorized with two grades. I Class Medal and II Class Medal. It is not clear if the grade denotes the rank of the recipient.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Naval War Operations 1942-1945 First [Second] Class, Founded by Decree of 1st May, 1949."
