History

The Medal for the Armed Militia (Medalla por la Milicia de la Defensa Civil) was instituted in Mexico by the central government in recognition of the volunteers who joined the first armed militia created in the country.

The armed militia was created in Mexico as a defense force in charge of the security of the country against a possible Nazi attack when Mexico declared war on the Axis Powers.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Mexico Trust in its Sons," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to "Central Committee of the Civil Defense to the Enthusiastic Patriotism."
