History

The Air Force Meteorologist Badge is awarded to members of the United States Air Force who serve in Meteorology Specialist roles. The Badge recognizes service in Meteorology which maximizes the effectiveness and ensures the readiness and preparedness of the Air Force. The Badge is awarded in 3 grades.

The Basic Badge is awarded as the 3rd grade to Officers and enlisted men upon graduation from technical school. The Senior Badge is awarded as the 2nd grade to Officers after 7 years in the speciality and to enlisted men upon the award of 7-skill level. The Master Badge is awarded as the highest grade to Officers in recognition of 15 years in the speciality and to master sergeants or above for 5 years in the speciality of the 7-skill level.
