History

The Air Force Flight Nurse Badge is awarded to commissioned officers who are trained as registered nurses in recognition of the completion of qualifying training as a military flight nurse and advanced studies in aerospace medicine and upon the completion of a period of in-flight instruction and observation.

The Air Force Flight Nurse Badge is awarded in 3 grades. The Cheif Wings are awarded as the highest grade, Senior Wings and the second grade, and Basic Wings as the third grade. The Chief Wings are issued in recognition of 72 months of aircrew duty as a flight nurse service, 15 years of military service, and 1000 hours logged as a flight nurse.
