The Bombing Aviator Badge was established by the United States Army Air Service in October 1917. The Bombardier Wings were issued to United States Army Air Force members who served as bombardiers on board military aircrafts during the First World War. The First World War Bombing Aviator Badge was re-established as the Bombardier Badge in 1942 for service in the Second World War.
