History

The Air and Space Campaign Medal was established by the Secretary of the Air Force, James G. Roche, on April 24, 2000. The Bronze Medal is awarded to Air Force personnel who participated in, or directly supported, a significant military combat operation from outside the geographical area designated for the operation. To be eligible for the award, service personnel must be assigned to or engaged in the operation, and have provided direct support for 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days. The award was made retroactive to reward service since March 24, 1999.

A bronze service star may be worn on the ribbon to denote additional awards of the Medal.
