History


The World War II Victory Medal was initially created as the "Victory Ribbon" by Act of Congress on July 6, 1945. The Medal was later approved by the Secretary of War on February 5, 1946. The Bronze Medal was awarded to all members of the Armed Forces in recognition of one day or more of active federal service during the Second World War between December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946.
