The Air Force Commander’s Award for Public Service was created by the Secretary of the Air Force in 2005. The Silver Medal is awarded to civilians who are neither employed by the Air Force or in a profit-making relationship with the Department of Defense in acknowledgement of voluntary service assisting with specific achievements or major unit projects or research. Service that has significantly and clearly contributed to the improvement of conditions for base personnel, facilities or missions is eligible for the award.
