History

The Department of the Air Force Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service was created by the Secretary of the Air Force. Civilian employees of the United States Department of the Air Force who have demonstrated a pattern of excellent and profound achievement over a year or more are eligible for the award of the Gold Medal. Qualifying service may include exceptional accomplishments of major assigned duties, innovative services, leadership and administration, and other services that benefit the Department of the Air Force or the United States government. The Medal may also be awarded for voluntary acts of bravery.
