History

The Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service Award was established by the Department of the Army on September 26, 1959. The Bronze Medal is awarded to civilian personnel in recognition of a demonstrated pattern of excellence which benefits the Department of the Army. Qualifying service may include the exemplary accomplishment of duties and inspiring others, innovations in improving operations, professional and public relations, and courage or competency during emergencies.
