The Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Award was established by the Secretary of the Army in January 1959. The Outstanding Civilian Service Award was renamed the Meritorious Public Service Medal in 2014. The Bronze Medal is awarded to Federal government employees, policy officials, technical personnel, and other civilians not employed by the Army for outstanding service which substantially benefits the Department of the Army.
