History

The CJCS Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award was established by the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Civilian Awards Program on January 5, 2000. The Silver Medal is awarded to Federal Government civilian employees of the Joint Staff, combatant commands, joint organizations reporting to the Chairman, or other Federal Government employees in recognition of exceptionally meritorious service. Recognized service must be less than that which is required to merit the recognition of the CJCS Distinguished Civilian Service Award, but which is still significant.
