History

The Joint Civilian Service Achievement Award was established by the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Civilian Awards Program on January 5, 2000. The Medal is awarded to any Federal Government civilian employee of the Joint Staff, combatant commands, or joint organizations reporting to the Chairman in recognition of commendable service or achievement which benefits the Department of Defense. Recognized service must be less than that which is required to merit the award of the Joint Civilian Commendation Award, but which is still significant to warrant recognition.
