History


The Transportation 9-11 Medal was established by the United States Secretary of Transportation on February 11, 2003. The Medal was awarded as a one-time decoration to civilian and other members of the United States Military in recognition of heroic service and valourous accomplishments demonstrated amidst the aftermath of the September 11th attack against the United States in 2001. Qualifying service includes acts of life-saving bravery and other signification assistance to rescue efforts.
