History


The FBI Medal of Valor was established by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1989 to recognize FBI employees and other American and foreign law enforcement personnel working with the FBI for exceptional acts. The Medal is awarded in recognition of exceptional acts of heroism which involve the voluntary risk of personal safety and life performed in the direct line of duty or within the scope of FBI employment and in the face of criminal encounters.
