The FBI Memorial Star was established by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1989 to recognize FBI employees and other American and foreign law enforcement personnel working with the FBI for exceptional acts. The Star is presented to the next of kin of personnel who were killed in the line of duty as a result of an adversarial conflict.
