History

The NACA Exceptional Service Medal was established by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in 1954. The Silver Medal was awarded to NACA personnel in recognition of exceptional service and contributions to NACA or other United States Research Programs that were below the degree required to merit the award of the NACA Distinguished Service Medal. 7 Medals were awarded until NACA was abolished in 1958.
