History

This medal was conferred upon military personnel in recognition of service in the Royal Crusade and the Vital Forces Movement to achieve independence from France.

This medal could be awarded with a diamond palm, an emerald palm, a gold palm, a gold star, a silver star, or a bronze star depending on the class.

The reverse Khmer inscription translates to "A Symbol in Commemoration of National Independence 1953".
