History

This Order is South Korea's highest military honour. It is conferred upon South Korean and Allied military personnel in recognition of gallantry and exceptional meritorious service during combat or national emergencies.

This Order was amended in 1963, 1967, and in 1973.

The ribbon changes for each 1950 class.

The reverse features Hangul script.
