Physical Description


An eight-pointed star with a wreath between the points, the obverse center bears a medallion with crossed anchors and a grenade encompassed by a dark blue enamel border inscribed with HAI QUAN HUAN CHUONG, the reverse is plain and inscribed with VIETNAM within a border inscribed with HAI QUAN HUAN CHUONG, on a ribbon of two intertwined pieces - one white and one blue, with fringe detailing at the bottom.

History


This Order was conferred upon Navy Officers of South Vietnam in recognition of meritorious service and gallantry for any kind of service, combat or non-combat. It was also awarded for citations and wounds in combat. It ceased to be awarded in 1974.

The ribbon is blue and white interlocking horizontal lines for this medal.
