The Exemplary Officer Cadet Badge was established by the Polish People's Republic in 1974 but was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.

There are two versions of the Bronze Badge that differ in inscription. The first has an obverse inscription that translates to "Exemplary Officer Cadet," and the second has an obverse inscription that translates to "Exemplary Reserve Officer Cadet."
