This medal was awarded to Czechoslovakian citizens in recognition of services that furthered the construction of the State, and for extraordinary labour services.

There are two main versions of the medal.

The medals issued first were awarded in 1948, and they feature the obverse inscription "HRDINŮM PRÁCE," and the reverse inscription " HRDINÁ PRÁCE."

The medals issued second were awarded from 1949-1951, and they feature the obverse inscription "PRACÍ ČEST," and the different reverse inscription is different for each grade. The II Class Silver Medal has the reverse inscription "ZA ZÁSLUHY O VÝSTAVBU."
