This medal was founded by the Czechoslovak government in exile, and it was conferred upon Military personnel within the Czechoslovak Armed Forces in recognition of meritorious service during the liberation efforts against the Germans in World War II.

The Bronze Medals awarded from 1943-1945 were manufactured in London.
