History

The Pilot Badge is classified into four types based on changes in design during different political regimes.

There are three versions of the Type I Badge that differ in composition. The first version was worn on the dress uniform, while the others were worn on the service uniform.

The first version is embroidered in gold wire on blue-grey wool. The crown above the flying eagle is inset with red silk. The second version is embroidered in silver wire on blue-grey wool and also has a crown above the flying eagle that is inset with red silk. The third version is embroidered in white silk on blue-grey wool.
