History

The Flying Cross of Valour was established on January 25, 1945. It was originally awarded to Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers in the Royal Hellenic Air Force for meritorious actions of bravery and self-sacrifice.

On March 30, 1953, it was modified to be awarded exclusively to flying personnel who died in combat during the Greek Civil War.
