History

The "Help to the Near Cross" was established in 1933 as a replacement for the "Help to the Near" Firefighters' Decoration. It was suppressed along with all other Lithuanian awards in 1940. It was awarded to senior members of the Firemen Commandos, as well as to state officials and foreign firefighters, primarily of the Baltic region.

There are two versions of the II Class Cross. The first version features an oak wreath without an inscription, while the second version features a reverse inscription, but no oak wreath. The reverse inscription of the second version translates to "Help to the Near."
