History

The "Help to the Near" Firefighters' Medal was established in 1933 as a replacement for the "Help to the Near" Firefighters' Decoration. It was suppressed along with all other Lithuanian awards in 1940. It was awarded to members of the Union of Lithuanian Firemen's Organisations for meritorious service, as well as to Lithuanian citizens for support of the Union.

There are two versions of the II Class Medal that differ slightly in size and engraving. Both feature reverse inscriptions that translate to "Help to the Near."
