Physical Description


In silver, measuring 36.5 mm in diameter, dark patina, bruised, original ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine.

History


This medal was instituted by Prince Bishop Petar II Petrović-Njegoš as the first Montenegrin medal. It was conferred in recognition of gallantry during conflict. It was awarded until 1919.

The Type IV medals were manufactured by the Arthus Bertrand, Paris and an unknown mint.

The Bravery Medals produced throughout WWI by French Mints feature ball-shaped suspensions.
