History


The Order was founded by King Nikola I of Montenegro. It is conferred upon members of the Royal Family and their kin, as well as to exceptional foreign citizens.

The Order is also known as the House Order of the Royal House of Montenegro.

This Order is named after Petar I who was a Prince-Bishop. He united Montenegrin lands and introduced the first laws into Montenegro.
