History

The Decoration for Exemplary Clerks was established by the Polish People's Republic in 1954. It was administered by the Minister of Internal Trade before it was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.

It was awarded to Polish workers, including clerks, managers, and waiters, in recognition of meritorious service. It was normally awarded in the lowest grade, with promotions made after additional years of meritorious service, but it could be awarded in absence of additional service under exceptional circumstances.

The II Class Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Exemplary Clerk."
