History

The Decoration for Merit to Geodesy and Cartography was established by the Council of Ministers in 1959. It was awarded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to employees in the fields of geodesy and cartography in recognition of meritorious service. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime, but a similar award was established by the Republic of Poland in 1999.

The II Class Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "For Achievements in Geodesy and Cartography."
