History

The Decoration for Merit to Healthcare was established by the Council of Ministers in 1986. It was awarded by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare to healthcare professionals in recognition of meritorious service, which included the implementation of new technology, the improvement of health conditions in the workplace, healthcare education, and the training of other healthcare workers. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989, but a similar award was established by the Republic of Poland in 2003.

The Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "For Merit to Healthcare Services."
