History

The Decoration for Merit to Spatial and Municipal Administration was established by the Council of Ministers in 1985. It was awarded by the Ministry of Administration and Spatial Planning to Polish citizens in recognition of meritorious service in a variety of fields, including spatial and urban planning, architecture, construction, public housing, and cartography. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.

There are two versions of the II Class Decoration that differ in inscription and engraving. The first has an obverse inscription that translates to "Ministry of Administration and Spatial Planning," and a reverse inscription that translates to "For Exemplary Work and Merit." The second has a reverse inscription that translates to "Ministry of Construction and Spatial and Municipal Administration."
