History

The honorary title of Meritorious Energy Worker of the Polish People's Republic was established by the Council of State in 1985. It was permanently discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime.

It was conferred upon workers in the Polish energy sector for meritorious service. Recognised merits included long and faithful service, the implementation of new technology, contributions to workplace health and safety, and contributions to technological advancements in the energy sector. Recipients were entitled to a monetary award in the form of a pension increase.

The Badge features initials on the obverse that stand for "Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa" (Polish People's Republic) and an additional inscription that translates to "Meritorious Energy Worker."
