History

The honorary title of Meritorious to National Culture was established by the Council of State in 1984. It was permanently discontinued in 1992 following the collapse of the communist regime.

It was conferred upon Polish citizens for outstanding contributions to Polish culture. Recipients were entitled to a monetary award in the form of a pension increase.

The Badge features an obverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious to National Culture."
