History

The Decoration for Merit in Banking Services was established by the Council of Ministers in 2003 based on the Decoration for Merit to Banking Services that was awarded in the Polish People’s Republic. It is currently administered by the President of the National Bank of Poland. It is awarded to Polish bank employees in recognition of meritorious service, as well as to foreigners in recognition of outstanding contributions to the international banking sector.

The Gold Decoration features initials on the obverse that stand for "Rzeczpospolita Polska" (Republic of Poland) with an additional inscription that can be translated to "For Merit in Banking."
