History

The Decoration for Merit in the Mining Industry was established by the Council of Ministers in 2001 based on the Decoration for Merit in the Mining Industry that was awarded in the Polish People’s Republic. It is currently awarded by the Minister of Energy to Polish citizens employed in the mining industry in recognition of meritorious service, including the implementation and development of new research and technology.

The Silver Medal features initials on the obverse that stand for "Rzeczpospolita Polska" (Republic of Poland) with an additional inscription that translates to "Merit to Mining."
