The Decoration for Meritorious Policemen was established by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration in 2000. It is awarded to policemen in recognition of long and meritorious service, including the maintenance of public order and the protection of others. It may also be awarded posthumously.

The III Class Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Police," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious Policeman."
