History


The Medal for Police Merit was established by the Republic of Poland in 2001 and is currently administered by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration. It is awarded to Polish citizens, including police officers and civilians in the employ of the police force, in recognition of meritorious service and contributions to the police force and crime prevention. It may also be awarded to foreigners or Polish citizens living abroad who have contributed to the Polish police or international cooperation between police forces. It may be awarded posthumously.

The III Class Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Police," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Medal for Merit to the Police."
