History

The Order of the Military Cross was established by the Republic of Poland in 2006. It is conferred in recognition of bravery and sacrifice while fighting terrorism in Poland, or abroad during foreign deployments of the Armed Forces in peacetime.

The Commander is conferred upon military Commanders for skilful leadership in combat, upon Officers for exceptional feats in combat, upon Staff Officers for collaboration with Commanders in successful military operations, and upon Non-Commissioned Officers who have already received a Knight in recognition of additional acts of bravery.

The Commander features an inscription that translates to "Soldier for the Homeland."
