History

The Jubilee Medal of King Carol I was established by King Carol I in 1906 in commemoration of the fortieth year of his rule. It was awarded to Romanian civil servants (active and retired), members of the Romanian Armed Forces (active and retired), and all veterans of the Romanian War of Independence.

There are two versions of the Bronze Medal that differ in reverse inscription. Both versions feature an obverse inscription that translates to "Carol I, King of Romania," but the version awarded to military personnel features an additional reverse inscription that translates to “In Memory of the 40th Year of My Command.”

There may be additional versions of the Bronze Medal that differ in stamping or manufacturer.
