History

The Peles Medal was established by King Carol II in 1933 in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Peles Castle. It was awarded to members of the Royal Family and participants of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the castle.

The Gold Medal has an obverse inscription that translates to "50 Years Since The Foundation of the Peles Castle at Sinaia." The reverse features lines of a poem written by Vasile Alecsandri, which can be translated to "I, Carol, Myself, and My People Have Built Together, Having One Intention and Love, My Kingdom in Times of War, my Castle in Times of Peace."
